Yo Macha! - The story Behind

17th day of April in the year 2008.

Another Thursday, everyone would wake up, walk to their washrooms, take shower, go to college, schools, offices, to meet friends, or just sit at home and do nothing. In the middle of this and more, there would be a few individuals that would turn on machines made of assembled metal and plastic, make the plastic keys suffer with fingers pressing at the speed of 80 words per minute.

All this started with a 23 year old, in a media company, trying to answer the question "You are not an MBA?", yet willing to achieve in life. After a long spell of if, but, maybe, another time, let's meet, wait for a while, this doesn't look that good, let's try this.. finally he could break through one big guy who could possibly fuel his ambition. With little knowledge of the internet space, he walked in to a meeting where he was meeting a director of a fairly large media group, and after a few days, an entrepreneur in the e-commerce space, who held a management degree from the harvard business school. To his surprise, he came out of that meeting, stunned, surprised, amazed, spirited and kicked at the same time, cause he could get the duo to say "we may look at your ideas".

Confidence boosted, and the 23 old was already thinking on all possible small and big things in life, which can have a possible product.

The first project was thrown out of the window as it was too much time, too much competition. Came the second one, a wackier idea, with more risk (either it would work, or simply crash), stronger belief was, it would work. Came, "let's do it".

With "let's do it" came the question of people. "The" thing, was people. For the initial few days, came in the initial team that was helping the guy through his media work. A Crazy Slovakian, and a x-GE chatter box.

Outline was drawn and the product was getting finalized. With a spread out chart, and detailed structures, it went straight to the technical team.

While the team was working on the product, the name of the portal was to be suggested, a billion suggestions, just to end it up with something that most people might not understand but will still sound cool, www.yomacha.com(spoken as yo-ma-cha), came into existence.

The name was there, and the product was getting built. Jana (the slovakian) was leaving, and the search for "the" team began. On one big party, came the first guy, Jai (age: 21), undergraduate, lousy, yet smart, connected and willing. welcome to the gang. Though he would be second one, the first one, Neeti (x-GE chatter box, age: arnd 22-23), was going on and on chatting, who better can you pick to make sure that the portal becomes a gossip thing.

With two gangsters, we needed a stabilizer, this one came in the form of a bigger gangster Vandana (age: arnd 23-24). Kick your ass in case you think you can chill for a day or so. She rightly got into handling PR and Marketing, we could be at least a little more certain about the money now.

This was a gang of four, and the portal was done (it is sounding very simple here, the portal took our lives to complete) and we decided we better get a Tech guy who could make this Product a Live Wire.

Came Saurabh (age: approx 25-26), the tech guy who will save the day, and yes he did.

And the team came together. Past 2 months. 2 months and we are a new company, Gray Matter Infotech Pvt. Ltd., and we have our first product: www.yomacha.com.

17th day of April, a very very young company (about 23 years would be the avg employee age), will hit the web space.

A pure drive of passion, spirit and ambition. We don't know all the right and wrong ways, but we are on our way, we won't walk, but run. (Yo Macha is here for fun!, my bad attempt at poetry)

Do check us on the web space as www.yomacha.com, starting 17th April 2008.
